Connecting Your NetScreen-5XP to a Network or Workstation

This article applies to ScreenOS 4.0 and higher.

To connect your NetScreen-5XP to a network or workstation, perform the following steps:

Connect the DC connector end of the power cable into the DC power receptacle on the back of the system.

Connect the AC adapter end of the power cable into an AC power source.

NetScreen recommends using a surge protector.

You can connect your NetScreen-5XP to a LAN via an internal switch or hub (see Step 3) or directly to your workstation (see Step 4).

Connect the colored cross-over cable provided from the Trusted interface on your NetScreen-5XP to the internal switch or hub.

Connect a straight-through cable from the Trusted interface on your NetScreen-5XP directly to the Ethernet port on the workstation.
