This article applies to ScreenOS 4.0 and higher.
To connect your NetScreen-25/50 to a network, perform the following:

You may want to install your NetScreen-25/50 into an equipment rack before connecting it to a network. For more information about rack-mounting your NetScreen-25/50, go to
Rack Mounting Your NetScreen-25/50.

From the back panel, verify that the power switch is in the
Off position.


Connect the power cable included from the power outlet to a power source in the room.


To prevent personal injury from exposure to DC voltage, always replace the insulating cap after installing power cables.

From the front panel, connect an RJ-45 cross-over cable from the
Trust zone interface to an internal switch, router, or hub.

In this example, we are using
Ethernet1 as the Trust zone interface.


Connect an RJ-45 straight-through cable from the
Untrust zone interface to an external router.

In this example, we are using
Ethernet3 as the Untrust zone interface.


From the back panel, flip the power switch to the
On position.


After your NetScreen-25/50 boots up, check the following LEDs:
- Power LED is green and solid on.
- Status-1 LED is green and blinking.
- Ethernet port LEDs for each connected interface are green and solid on or green and blinking.
