Problem


Solution

Note: This article applies to ScreenOS 4.0 and 5.0.

Note: A Manage IP address is used to manage your NetScreen device through a Telnet session, SSH, SSL or through the WebUI management application.

To configure a manage IP address, perform the following steps:

Step one: Open the WebUI. For more information on accessing the WebUI, go to Accessing Your NetScreen Using the WebUI.

Step two: From the NetScreen options menu, click Network, and then click Interfaces.

Step three: From the interface list, choose the interface from which you wish to create the Manage IP address, click Edit.

Note: For this example, we chose to edit the Manage IP for the ethernet1 interface.

Step four: From the Manage IP text box, enter the IP address you want to use to manage your NetScreen.

Note: The Manage IP address must be different than the IP address of the physical interface, but on the same subnet.

Step five: Click OK.
