Installing NetScreen-Remote From the Website

This article applies to NetScreen-Remote VPN Client 8.0 and above.

If you are upgrading to NetScreen-Remote from a previous version, you must first uninstall the previous version. Failure to uninstall the previous version will cause system conflicts resulting in failure of your Windows operating system. For information on how to uninstall a previous version of NetScreen-Remote, go to Uninstalling Previous Versions of NetScreen-Remote.

To install the NetScreen-Remote from the website, perform the following steps:

From the support page of http://www.juniper.net/support/, under NetScreen Customers, enter your Login and Password. Click GO.

From My Technical Assistance Center, click Download Software.

From Software Downloads, click Continue.

From Firmware and Software Downloads, click to choose a NetScreen-Remote Client download.

The difference between the NS-VPN client and the NS-Security client is that the NS-Security client contains the personal firewall software as well.

Click Yes.

From the Download page, for Windows 98/ME, click NetScreen-Remote VPN Client version 8.3.zip or for Windows 2000/NT/XP, click NetScreen-Remote VPN Client version 8.3.exe.

Click Save.

From the Save in drop-down menu, click Desktop, and then click Save.

After the download is complete, click Open.

Windows 98/ME users, please continue to Step 16.

From the Desktop, double-click the NetScreen-RemoteVPNClient.exe file.

From the NetScreen-Remote VPN Client - InstallShield Wizard, click to select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.

From NetScreen-Remote Setup, click Next.

From License Agreement, click Yes.

Click to choose the desired setup, and then click Next.

Choose Typical to install the program with the most common options. Choose Express to install the program with all components supported by the current system. Choose Custom to specify which options you wish to install.

Review your Current Settings, and then click Next.

  Once the installation is complete, your PC will automatically reboot.

 

The following information is for Windows 98/ME users.

From the Desktop, double-click the 8.3r1_VPN_CLIENT.zip file.

Click Next.

Click to select Unzip or install from "8.3r1_VPN_CLIENT.zip", and click Next.

Click to select Display file icons after unzipping, and then click Unzip Now.

Double-click 81r3_VPN_CLIENT.

Double-click Setup.

Double-click Setup.exe.

Return to Step 11 to complete the instructions.
