Summary:
This article outlines the steps required to Setup Licensing on the IVE.

Problem or Goal:
How do I set up my IVE with licenses so I can start using it?

Solution:

For those on IVE OS 5.0 or below you will need to upgrade to IVE OS 5.1 or above if you do not already have licenses. Juniper Networks now generates licenses based on a hardware ID which is generated based on your hardware when IVE OS 5.1 or above is installed.

Note: Some boxes which come with IVE OS 5.0 or below cannot be upgraded to 5.1 or above. Typically if a box originally had IVE OS 3.x or 4.0 as the original OS they will not upgrade. More information on upgrading is available in the upgrade section.

Also the following KB discusses license upgrades when upgrading to IVE OS 5.1 or above:

IVE OS 5.0 and below License installation

If you already have licenses for IVE OS 5.0 or below, cick on license keys in the task guide or select Configuration > Licenses. Put in your company name (this must match exactly with what was registered with juniper). Then put in the 7 word license key. If you are installing an advanced license it should to be the first license you install due to licensing issues in certain builds.

IVE OS 5.1 and above license installation

On IVE OS 5.1 and above a hardware ID is listed on the bottom left section of all the IVE Admin pages.

This hardware ID is what the licenses are based on and can be used to request a license from Juniper Networks (requests are generally done by contacting the Juniper Sales Engineer you have assigned to your company or Area). If you do not have a Sales Engineer assigned to your company or do not know who your Sales Engineer is call one of the following numbers:

North America/Latin America Phone: 1-866-298-6428
Asia Pacific Phone: 852-2332-3636
Fax: 852-2574-7803
Europe, Middle East & Africa Phone: 44-1372-385500
Fax: 44-1372-385501

Once you have contacted your sales engineer and received the authorization code to active your licenses, go to Juniper Networks Customer Support Center. Click on Contract and Product Management:

If you have not already done so, login to the support site and select License Key Generator.  If you have trouble logging in contact customer care at 1-888-314-5822.

On the License Key Generator screen you will be asked for the authorization code.  Take the generated code and go to the licensing page on the IVE then enter it in.

note: If setting up a cluster make sure to generate the Cluster or "CL" license with the second unit's serial number and hardware ID. All content licenses, like NC/SAM, should be generated for the primary box.
