Summary:

Error: Cannot find 'dsmmf.exe' while launching SSL VPN Components

Problem or Goal:

User gets the following error while launching SSL VPN Components like NC, WSAM and Terminal Services:

Windows cannot find "C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Juniper Networks\Setup Client\dsmmf.exe".
Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search.

Solution:
This issue occurs if the 'Juniper Setup Client' is corrupted or not installed correctly.

To resolve the issue perform the following steps:
  1. Uninstall the Juniper Setup Client.
  2. The Juniper Setup Client can be uninstalled from the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Juniper Networks\Installer Service\JuniperSetupClientOCX.exe

  3. Launch Juniper Components (NC\WSAM or Terminal Service) which will reinstall the Juniper Setup Client.
