Summary:
This article describes the issue of the The secure gateway denied the connection request from this client. (nc.windows.app.23791) error message being generated.

Problem or Goal:
  • All users, except one, are unable to connect via Network Connect.

  • The dsncservice.exe Juniper process can be blocked by personal firewall software, such as Symantec, McAfee, and Trend Micro.

  • This error means that Network Connect is unable to establish a connection with the secure gateway.

  • A variety of causes can contribute to this error, such as the Cisco VPN software, firewall, anti-virus software, and so on.

  • The key to determining where to look is to check if the error is affecting all Network Connect users or a few Network Connect users.

  • All users being affected would be a configuration setting that is required in the IVE; whereas, if only a few users are affected, it could be software.

To prevent this error message from being generated, set the software firewall to allow dsncservice.exe. In certain cases, the interfering software has to be uninstalled.
