How Do I Ping the Remote Firewall Public IP Address?

Solution:

To ping the remote firewall public IP address, perform the following steps:

Step oneFrom behind the local firewall, open the Command Prompt.

Step twoEnter ping [public ip address of the remote firewall]; press ENTER.

Note: In this example, the public or "untrust" IP address of the remote firewall is 210.1.1.10.

Note: This ping is successful because 210.1.1.10 replies. An unsuccessful ping displays Request timed out.
