Summary:
Contained within are the options available to a user that needs to install a Juniper Client component (such as Network Connect and WSAM) but does not have the appropriate permissions on the client machine.

Problem or Goal:
In order to install a Juniper Client on a client machine, the user will need to have Administrative rights to the Window PC.  For Macintosh and Linux clients, the user will need to have "root" access for the initial installation only.

Solution:

Juniper offers the Juniper Installer Service for Window's users that allows a user to install client components (like Network Connect, WSAM, Host Checker, etc.) that require administrator rights when the user does not have Administrative rights on the PC.

The installer service is a manual installer that needs to be installed by a user with Administrator rights on the PC.  The Juniper Installer Service interacts with the Windows Installer Service on behalf of the user to install the client components, thus bypassing the need for administrator rights on the PC.  The manual installer can be downloaded from the IVE (Instant Virtual Extranet) by signing in as an administrator to the IVE and navigating to System > Installers

Select the "Download" link on the right hand side of the page for the Juniper Installer Service.  This will prompt to either download the executable or download the executable to the default location specified by the browser.  This executable can be manually installed on computers or can be "pushed" to clients via other mechanisms (such as Microsoft's SMS).

For more information on the Juniper Installer Service, please refer to Juniper Installer Service FAQ (PDF) .

For Macintosh and Linux clients, the user must have "root" access for the initial installation only.  There is no installer service for Macintosh and Linux clients.
