Synopsis

Please be advised that IE 7 is currently only supported in 5.3 R8 and higher of the IVE software. Prior Releases of the IVE software do not have support for IE 7.

Problem

Solution

Known issues with IE 7 when utilized with the available 5.3 R7 release and prior releases of the IVE software.
Please note that the following issues are not comprehensive to the 5.3 branch and are subject to change. Subsequent testing could remove or add issues to the list below.  5.3 R8 of the IVE software has support for IE 7.  Please download 5.3 R8 from the link below for IE 7 support.  If you encounter an issue not currently listed, contact the Juniper support team.

General

  1. IE7 prevents the removal of the URL/address bar when users are opening a bookmark in a new window where they have configured the “Do not display the Web browser's URL address bar” setting. This can be seen with JSAM or any pop-up displayed by the backend web application accessed through the IVE. There is no current workaround for this and we expect the impact to be minimal.
  2. Closing the IVE tab or window in IE 7 does not necessarily end the IVE user session. To make sure that the session with IVE ends, the user should click Sign out.
  3. If there are 3rd party browser toolbars or add-ons installed in Internet Explorer, they need to be upgraded to be compatible with IE 7. If the updates for the 3rd party software are not available they should be uninstalled. Otherwise, IVE client components such as Network Connect and WSAM may crash when they redirect the browser to the IVE home page.

Rewriter
All known issues through the rewriter and IE 7 are with the Sharepoint web application. The issues with Sharepoint are outlined below:

  1. When accessing Sharepoint through the rewriter with persistent cookie disabled, the following functionality is not available:
    • a. Double-clicking on a document in the document library results in a JavaScript error (41991).
    • b. Clicking on “Edit in Microsoft XXX” in the pull-down menu for a Microsoft Office document in the document library results in the page opening up in read-only mode (41999).
    • c. Multiple picture upload functionality does not function (42068).

  2. When accessing Sharepoint through the rewriter with persistent cookie enabled, the image for each link in the pull-down menu for the documents in the document library is missing (41991).

Windows Secure Application Manager
In order to support WSAM on older versions of Windows, WSAM installation restarts the browser. This might require user confirmation if there are multiple tabs open in IE 7. WSAM should still work fine on Windows XP and the browser traffic will go through WSAM if configured. (42350).

Java Secure Application Manager

  1. IVE will not be able to launch JSAM if pop-up blocker is enabled, which is the default setting in IE 7. The user will have to disable the pop-up blocker for IVE host by selecting ‘Always allow pop-ups from this site’ on the yellow bar shown at the top of the browser by the pop-up blocker.
  2. JSAM does not detect the absence of a JVM configured in IE7 and indicate it to the end user (43037)
  3. With JSAM in IE7, published applications in Citrix Web Interface will not launch using the installed Citrix client. The workaround is to go to Internet Options > Security > Custom Level, scroll to "Downloads" and click "Enable" for "Automatic prompting for file downloads" (43061)

Cache Cleaner

  1. Cache Cleaner does not flush the existing Auto-complete passwords in IE 7 (42976)
  2. Cache Cleaner does not remove the browser history in IE 7 for the hosts specified in the Cache Cleaner configuration page (42987)

Citrix Terminal Services
IVE does not install the Citrix Client for Citrix Terminal Services if it is configured in the Citrix client delivery method on the Terminal Services Role > Options page (42903)

Juniper Setup Applet (java installer)
The Juniper Setup Applet does not work with Sun JVM 1.5.0_08 and above (43023).
