Note: This article applies to ScreenOS 4.0 DIAL, and only one custom zone may be created at a time.

To create a custom zone, perform the following steps:

Step one: Open the WebUI. For more information on accessing the WebUI, select your product from the list below:
Step two: From the NetScreen options menu, click Network, and then click Zones.

Step three: From the Zones page, click New.

Step four: Enter a Zone Name.

Note: For this example, we entered a Zone Name of custom.

Step five: From the Virtual Router Name drop-down menu, click to choose the virtual router in whose routing domain you want to place the zone.

Note: For this example, we chose trust-vr.

Step six: Click to choose the Zone Type.

Note: Layer 3 creates a zone to which you can bind interfaces in NAT or Route mode. Layer 2 creates a zone to which you can bind interfaces in Transparent mode. Tunnel Out Zone creates a tunnel zone and binds it to the selected carrier zone.

Note: For this example, we chose Layer 3.
