Behavior of OSPF or BGP in NSRP environment

Problem or Goal:

Environment:

  • Open Shortest Path First, OSPF
  • Border Gateway Protocol, BGP
  • Active-Passive, Active/Passive
  • OSPF on the passive or backup unit
  • BGP on the passive or backup unit

Solution:

If running OSPF and/or BGP in an NSRP environment, it is highly recommended to be running at least ScreenOS 5.0.0.  It is recommended to run OSPF and/or BGP using NSRP active-active, or NSRP active-passive with vsd-less configurations.
