[ScreenOS] What are the limitations of bridge groups on SSG140, SSG 300 and SSG 500 firewalls?

Article ID: KB10747 KB Last Updated: 11 Oct 2016Version: 9.0
Summary:

On SSG300 and SSG500 devices, there is no option to configure 'onboard ports' to be part of a bgroup interface. On SSG140, SSG300 & SSG500 firewalls, ports spanning multiple uPIMs cannot be part of the same bgroup.

This article discusses the limitations of bridge groups on SSG140, SSG 300 and SSG 500 firewalls.

Solution:

SSG-300 and SSG-500 does not support Bgroups on "onboard" ports, but SSG140 firewall supports 'onboard' ports to be part of Bgroup.

Bridge groups can be configured on SSG140, SSG-300 and SSG-500 if using the uPIM modules. The only limitation is one bridge group cannot span multiple uPIMs.

For more information on uPIM, refer to PIM_Guide [PDF]

NOTE:   uPIM requires ScreenOS 6.0.0r1 or higher.
The SSG-300 requires ScreenOS 6.0.0r2 or higher.
