Summary:

What commands are helpful in troubleshooting NSRP problems? What command outputs should be collected before opening a case with the Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center (JTAC) for troubleshooting a NSRP issue?

Symptoms:

After following the steps or other KB articles referenced in the KB9809 -- NSRP Resolution Guide there is still an NSRP issue. What data needs to be collected to further troubleshoot the issue?

Solution:

The below list of commands is helpful when troubleshooting NSRP problems:

Command Set 1:

get tech
get event
get log sys
get nsrp
get nsrp monitor
get interface


Command Set 2:

Repeat these commands three to four times:

get nsrp
get nsrp counter
get nsrp counter packet
get interface


Command Set 3:

exec nsrp sync global-config check-sum 

The output of the command can be viewed only on console OR in 'get log sys' OR 'get db stream'.

Command Set 4:

(Note: Please use all debug commands with caution as it may cause CPU spikes or lock up when traffic is present. It is highly recommended to run debug commands from the console.)

debug nsrp all

To view the debug output:

get db stream

To stop the debug:

Hit the <ESC> key. This will stop all debugging commands.

undebug nsrp all

undebug all
