Article ID: KB11381 KB Last Updated: 18 Oct 2020Version: 4.0
Summary:
Note: A product listed in this article has either reached hardware End of Life (EOL) OR software End of Engineering (EOE).  Refer to End of Life Products & Milestones for the EOL, EOE, and End of Support (EOS) dates.
How to add MIP address to NSM Server so that it is accessible from the Internet.
Symptoms:
NSM GUI located off the Internet can't connect to NSM Server on the internal network:
NSM Server (192.168.1.5)
     |
Internal network
     |
(192.168.1.1)
 Juniper FW
(10.10.10.1)

     |
  Internet
     |
  NSM GUI

(MIP is created on the Juniper FW mapping the public IP 10.10.10.5 to the Internal IP 192.168.1.5)

A MIP and policy is created on the Juniper firewall, KB10953, and the NSM GUI can ping the NSM Server.
However, the NSM GUI can't connect to the NSM Server.

Solution:
In addition to the steps in KB10953, the Mapped IP needs to be configured on the NSM Server.  To add a MIP address on NSM Server, follow these steps:

1. From a NSM GUI on the Internal network, login to NSM Gui.

2. Go to Server Manager > Servers > Device Server (Server_0) > General Tab

3. Add the MIP Address, i.e. 10.10.10.5.   Devices on Internet will communicate with NSM on this IP Address.
