[EOL/EOE] [NSM] How to debug the NSM GUI client

Details concerning how to configure the NSM GUI client for debugging problems.

Symptoms:

If the NSM GUI client is not working properly, a debug may be needed to further troubleshoot.

This explains how to enable the NSM GUI debug.

Solution:
  1. Log into the guiClient with the super account.

  2. From the Tools menu choose "Preferences".

  3. Select "Local Properties" > Debugging > Logger Level.

    Choose any level from the drop down to change the logging. Usually "debug" is the best option.  Greater levels are available but may provide more information that what is practical or needed.

  4. Select the "Extended Format" option.

  5. Click OK.

 

The debug log is written to a file located here:   C:\Documents and Settings\<userName>\.nsm\_out.<date>.dat

To view this file, log out of the NSM guiClient first as the client is constantly writing to this file while the NSM guiClient is running.
