Seeing error: 'gzip: stdin: not in gzip format' when trying to upgrade JUNOS version. This occurs when the JUNOS .tgz file is being installed.

Symptoms:
Seeing error: 'gzip: stdin: not in gzip format' when trying to upgrade JUNOS version. This occurs when the JUNOS .tgz file is being installed.

Example:
user@router> request system software add /var/tmp/junos-jseries-9.2R2.15-domestic.tgz

gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: +CONTENTS: Not found in archive
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
WARNING: Cannot use /var/tmp/junos-jseries-9.2R2.15-domestic.tgz:
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
Solution:
This can happen when the downloaded JUNOS image file has been corrupted during transfer. Download the file again and do not modify the file in any way. If downloading via FTP, be sure to set FTP client to use binary and not ASCII mode.
