[STRM] Error when changing settings in console: "There was a problem with your object definition. Please go back and try again"

Article ID: KB13508 KB Last Updated: 12 Mar 2009Version: 1.0
Summary:
If changing the STRM console settings results in an error such as: "There was a problem with your object definition. Please go back and try again" or "[ERR] Could not save to: /store/configservices/... Permission denied", check the directory permissions.
Symptoms:
STRM processes must have the appropriate permissions to modify its internal system files. If these permissions are not correct, /var/log/qradar.error will show an error such as:

[ERR] Could not save to: /store/configservices/... Permission denied
Solution:
If this error is seen, please check the permissions of the reported directory.   All of the files in /store/configservices/staging and /store/configservices/deployed should be owned by nobody:nobody.

If the files permissions were changed and are now owned by root or another user other than "nobody", STRM cannot save the objects.

To fix, run the following commands from the STRM CLI:
chown nobody:nobody /store
chown -R nobody:nobody /store/configservices/staging
chown -R nobody:nobody /store/configservices/deployed

A restart of the services should not be necessary.
