How to see the JUNOS device XML configuration file sent to NSM

Article ID: KB13942 KB Last Updated: 23 Apr 2009Version: 1.0
How to see the JUNOS device XML configuration file sent to NSM

When troubleshooting a device update or import failure between the device and NSM, determine if the device is sending the correct information or value to NSM.  This will help determine if the issue is on the device side or if  NSM incorrectly imported the value.

In order to see the configuration file that the JUNOS device is sending to NSM in XML format, use the following procedure:

  • Login to the JUNOS device CLI using SSH or telnet
  • Run the command:  show configuration | display xml | save <filename>
  • Locate the configuration parameter sent
  • Verify the value exported by the device
If the value reported by the device is incorrect, missing or not what expected compared to the configuration shown in the WebUI interface, the problem is a device side issue.
