[ScreenOS] Syslog behavior change in NSRP backup device

Summary:

This article provides information about the syslog behavior change in the NSRP backup device.

Symptoms:

By default, In ScreenOS 5.4, the syslog on the NSRP backup device is disabled. However, with a hidden command, the NSRP backup can be configured to send syslog messages. The command is:

set syslog backup enable

Since ScreenOS 6.2, by default, the syslog on the NSRP backup device is sent without this hidden command.

Solution:

The behaviour change in syslog on the NSRP Backup device is as follows:

Backup sends syslog (event log) messages without the set syslog backup enable command, in the following ScreenOS versions:

  • ScreenOS 6.0.0r6 and above
  • ScreenOS 6.1.0r2 and above
  • ScreenOS 6.2.0r1 and above

Backup sends syslog (event log) messages when the set syslog backup enable command is configured in the following ScreenOS versions:

  • ScreenOS 5.4.0r17 and below
  • ScreenOS 6.0.0r5 and below
  • ScreenOS 6.1.0r1b and below
