STRM unable to retrieve listing of updates available

Article ID: KB14412 KB Last Updated: 14 Aug 2015Version: 3.0
Summary:

The STRM has been set to use http://www.juniper.net as the update URL when it should be https://www.juniper.net.

Update 7/17/15:  This issue was only seen in older versions of code, the link is now https://download.juniper.net/.  However, some RMAs are still being shipped with 2009.1 code on them and might be affected by this issue.

Symptoms:
  • Problems running the "Auto Update" from the STRM config window.
  • Unable to retrieve listing of updates available.
Solution:
In the /opt/qradar/conf/nva.conf file there is a line that reads AUTOUPDATE_WEBADDRESS=http://www.juniper.net .  It needs to be changed to AUTOUPDATE_WEBADDRESS=https://www.juniper.net.

Use the command below to fix this in all the places on the STRM because if you only fix it in /opt/qradar/conf/nva.conf, the change will be undone when there is a deployment or restart of services performed.
for i in `find / -iname nva.conf`; do sed -i 's/AUTOUPDATE_WEBADDRESS=http:\/\/www.juniper.net/AUTOUPDATE_WEBADDRESS=https:\/\/www.juniper.net/g' $i; done

After running the above command, restart the STRM box to restart all the processes, then perform a deploy all.

If you don't want to reboot the entire device, you can restart the hostcontext and tomcat processes with the following commands: service hostcontext restart and service tomcat restart, you will still need to perform a deploy all to apply the changes into memory.

Now attempt an "Auto Update."   If your DNS resolution and connectivity to the Internet are working, you should be able to see if there are automatic updates available.

You need to have a current STRM license installed on the STRM device in order for Auto Update to work.
