High CPU on STRM

Article ID: KB14829 KB Last Updated: 22 Jul 2009Version: 1.0
STRM dashboard displays High CPU messages

STRM Hardware might experience high CPU usage under the following circumstances:
  • License issue - Incorrect license installed, STRM is processing logs more than licensed for.
Solution:  Check if you have the correct license installed.   Also check if you are sending logs more than value configured for the EPS threshold in the /store/configservices/deployed/deployment.xml file.

  • Multiple Users logged in - Multiple users are logged in and running Event queries simultaneously
Solution:  Check the number of users logged in and the processes they are running (Available in 2009.1 and above versions)

  • Reporting engine - Multiple reports are running in backend. This can be verified by running the "top" CLI command on the STRM. The reporting process would show high CPU usage.
Solution:  Schedule large reports to run during off-peak hours.
