Which ports on J-Series and SRX branch devices support Layer 2 switching?

  [KB15455] Show Article Properties

Summary:
This article provides information about the J-series and SRX-Branch device ports that support Layer 2 switching.
Symptoms:
Information about the J-series and SRX branch device ports that support Layer 2 switching.
Cause:

Solution:
For the supported interfaces per platform, refer to the following table:

Platform Supported Ports
J-Series  uPIMs only (Onboard GE ports not supported)
SRX100  Onboard Fast Ethernet ports (fe-0/0/0 through fe-0/0/7)
SRX110  Onboard Fast Ethernet ports (fe-0/0/0 through fe-0/0/7)
SRX210  Onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports (ge-0/0/0 and ge-0/0/1)
Onboard Fast Ethernet ports (fe-0/0/2 and fe-0/0/7)
SRX220  Onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports (ge-0/0/0 through ge-0/0/7)
SRX240  Onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports (ge-0/0/0 through ge-0/0/15)
SRX650  gPIMs only (Onboard GE ports not supported)
SRX550  gPIMs only (Onboard GE ports not supported)

Note: Support for LACP follows the same support as the L2 interface for each platform. Also, for J-series and all SRX platforms (except SRX650), you cannot span multiple PIM slots as layer2.

Switched traffic is not forwarded from a port on one uPIM to a port on a different uPIM. For SRX550 and SRX650, multiple 16/24xGE gPIMs behave together as a single switching unit.
