[Archive] For certain configurations the enable mode password is not retained after reboot on the EX2500

Article ID: KB15612 KB Last Updated: 23 Dec 2019Version: 2.0
This article notifies users that a bug has been discovered where the enable mode password may not be retained after a reboot of the EX2500.  This is a rare occurance and has been observed only for some configurations.
It has been observed that in certain circumstances that the enable mode password may not be retained on a reboot.

After a reboot  the system does not prompt for the enable mode password:

<timestamp> ex2500:CLI-ALERT: User (admin) logged in on console
ex2500> ena
Enable privilege granted. <-------- no password asked!
A Problem Report (PR) has been opened with our Engineering group for this issue.

The problem is related to the size of the configuration. If the running configuration is large it has been seen that enable mode password may not be retained on reboot.

Please contact the Juniper Technical Assistance Center (JTAC) for details about the release containing the fix for this issue.
