Article ID: KB16302 KB Last Updated: 22 Jun 2010Version: 2.0
Summary:

What is the timeout for the child / data session in FTP? The ALG is hardcoded to 10 seconds.

Symptoms:
What is the timeout for the child / data session in FTP?
Why does my FTP data session disconnect abruptly?
Solution:
The predefined timeout set for the FTP child session (the data session) in ScreenOS is 10seconds. This value is hardcoded into the FTP ALG and cannot be changed/configured. What this means is that the FTP server must connect back to the FTP client within 10 seconds of the pport command being issued, else the data session will be dropped.
