[EX/QFX] How to log in to a member switch of the Virtual Chassis

Summary:

This article provides information on how to log in to the member switch of the Virtual Chassis in EX and QFX Series switches when users encounter the "usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Cannot open "/usr/lib/libutil.so.5" error message.

 

Symptoms:

When you log in to a member switch of the Virtual Chassis by using the following command via the CLI:

Switch>request session member <member-id>

Example:
{master:0}
root@Switch> request session member 1
--- JUNOS 13.2X51-D25.2 built 2014-07-26 05:43:02 UTC
root@Switch:LC:1%
root@Switch:LC:1% cli
warning: This chassis is operating in a non-master role as part of a virtual-chassis

You may encounter the following error:

/usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Cannot open "/usr/lib/libutil.so.5"

rlogin: connection closed

 

Solution:

In this case, the member switch can be accessed by using the following shell command:

root% rlogin –Ji fpc<member-id>
