[SRX] Do reth interfaces support speed/link-mode settings on member links?

  [KB16672] Show Article Properties

Summary:

This article provides information about the enhancement on supporting reth interfaces for speed/link-mode settings on member interfaces.

Symptoms:

When configuring the reth interface on J Series or SRX devices, it was originally not possible to configure speed and duplex settings on the interface.

Cause:

The original aggregate interface infrastructure did not support speed and link-mode configurations.

Solution:

Reth interfaces use the Junos aggregate interface infrastructure. Changes have been made to the infrastructure to support speed and link-mode configurations.

The releases, specifically for High End SRX devices, are 11.2R1, 11.1R1, 10.3R3, 10.4R2, 10.2R4 or later.

For Branch SRX devices, this is supported only from Junos 11.1R4, 11.2R2, and 11.4R1 onwards.

An example of the configuration:

root@SRX3400-50# show interfaces ge-3/0/0
speed 100m;         <<<<<<<< New configuration
gigether-options {
    redundant-parent reth3;
}

root@SRX3400-50# show interfaces ge-3/0/0
speed 100m; < New configuration
link-mode full-duplex; < New configuration
gigether-options {
     redundant-parent reth3;
}

root@SRX3400-50# run show interfaces reth3
Physical interface: reth3, Enabled, Physical link is Up
Interface index: 131, SNMP ifIndex: 537
Link-level type: Ethernet, MTU: 1514, Speed: 100mbps, BPDU Error: None,
Modification History:
2019-10-05: Minor, non-technical update.
