How to configure SBR Carrier to manage the server log file (.LOG)/Debug Log

Article ID: KB16982 KB Last Updated: 04 Mar 2017Version: 3.0
This article provides information on how to Configure SBR Carrier to manage the server log file (.LOG)/Debug Log
  • SBR Carrier writes detailed logs, which include packet traces to the server log file. This can be useful for troubleshooting.

  • However, if you are running SBR Carrier with Verbose level logging, the server log file (.LOG) size can increase exponentially on a busy server.

  • By default, the log files are created and maintained in the default Radius working directory.

  • In such a scenario, the administrator may want to move the log files to a specific location of their choice to manage the file system on the server more effectively.
To change the location of the RADIUS log files, set the following parameter in the radius.ini file in the [Configuration] section:
LogDir = <new location>
LogDir: Sets the destination directory on the local host, on which server log files are stored. The default value is the Steel-Belted Radius directory. After you restart the Steel-Belted Radius service, the server log will be created in the new directory.

Note: The 'LogDir' parameter was termed as 'PrivateDir' in certain releases of Steel-Belted Radius.

The system must be restarted for this change to take effect.
