Summary:

Troubleshooting steps to get your Access Manager client (Dynamic VPN client) connected to the SRX.

Symptoms:

Symptoms:

  • Dynamic VPN (Access Manager) client is not connected
  • Dynamic VPN (Access Manager) client is downloaded, but the client can't connect to the SRX
  • Connection Status in Access Manager window reports Disconnected
Cause:

Solution:

Note:  This article assumes that the Access Manager client has been downloaded to the PC. 

step1 Double-click the Access Manager icon in the PC's system tray or select Start > All Programs > Juniper Networks > Access Manager > Access Manager. The Juniper Networks Access Manager window is displayed:

If Status is 'Connected to Server', then continue with the steps in KB17660 - Access Manager client is connected, but can't get to protected resources .

If the Status is 'Disconnected' (or not connected), then continue with Step 2.


step2 Select the IP address of the SRX in the Access Manager window, right click, and select Connect.

Continue with Step 3.


step3  If a window titled 'Invalid Server Certificate' or is displayed, this is normal. This is displayed if the certificate on the SRX has not yet been added to the local computer's trusted certificate store. Click Accept.

   Continue with Step 4.


step4  Enter the Access Manager Username and Password (XAuth):                               

Continue with Step 5.

step5  In the Access Manager window, right click on the SRX IP address to display the Connection Status window:

What is the Connection Result?

  • Authentication Failure - Incorrect credentials (using Local Authentication) - Continue with the steps in KB19619

  • Authentication Failure - Incorrect credentials (using RADIUS Authentication) - Continue with the steps in KB17335

  • Authentication Failure: No configuration Available - Continue with the steps in KB17344

  • Authentication Failure: Firewall is out of licenses - Continue with the steps in KB17292

  • No configuration for user - Continue with the steps in KB17455

  • Failed to get HTTP Response - Continue with the steps in KB17336

  • IKE Negotiations Failed'  (No Proposal Chosen) - Continue with the steps in KB17453

  • Dynamic VPN Client gets no error and the 'Status:' field is blank (hangs) - Continue with the steps in KB17439

  • Connected to Server - You are connected. Continue with the steps in KB17660 - Access Manager client is connected, but can't get to protected resources
