[SRX] Check license usage and install license

Summary:

This article provides information on how to check if the Dynamic VPN license is installed, in use, and out of licenses.

  •  The error message 'No license available' is reported on User Login window when Dynamic VPN user connects to SRX:
  •  Pulse reports the status 'Waiting to connect' and 'Unable to resolve hostname':

Solution:

Dynamic VPN is a licensed feature for SRX-Branch devices.  By default, a two user evaluation license is provided free of cost and it does not expire.
In cases where there are more than two users that need to connect concurrently, a license is required.  Ordering information can be found here.

Once you have purchased a Dynamic-VPN license, it will need to be intalled into the SRX.  Instructions on how to do this can be found here.

In order to verify installed license and amount licenses in use by logged in users, enter the following command:  show system license

root@host> show system license   
License usage:
                                 Licenses     Licenses    Licenses    Expiry
  Feature name                       used    installed      needed
  dynamic-vpn                           1           10           0    permanent


Note:  If using only two users, you will not see an entry for the dynamic-vpn license. By default, it will allow you to connect with two dynamic vpns.

If the 'Licenses used' has reached the number of 'Licenses installed', then you may consider purchasing more licenses.
