[STRM/JSA] Interfaces are swapped

0

0

Article ID: KB17314 KB Last Updated: 05 Jun 2015Version: 5.0
Summary:

The interfaces are swapped out of the box or after a software upgrade. This article describes procedures for swapping the interfaces back to the default for the following appliances:

Symptoms:

On an out-of-the-box installation or a recently upgraded appliance, the interface shows no connectivity when a cable is plugged into the port.

Cause:

This issue appears after patching or upgrading an out-of-the-box installation.

Solution:

JSA 1500 and 3500

Issue: Interface 0 is swapped with interface 3. After applying the patch, you can see that the interfaces are swapped. Eth0 was configured as the management interface during setup, but the link is detected on eth3.

Solution: For appliances installed with 2014.4 and later:

You can run the script network_interface_reassignment.pl located in /opt/qradar/bin on each host to reassign the network interface back to the original configuration. If in HA, reboot the primary system first; after the primary system is back online, reboot the secondary system. After this, the two systems should be back into normal HA operation again.

When you execute the script, you will see the following menu:

From the menu, select "3" and press "Enter." You will see how the interfaces are swapped:

Solution: For appliances installed with 2014.4 and earlier:

Please run the script STRMupgrade_swap_eth.sh described in the next section. This script will automatically revert the interfaces for you.

STRM 5000 II or STRM NEBS appliance

Note: This method should only be used on a STRM 5000 II or STRM NEBS appliance, direct from manufacturing, when the eth0 or eth1 port does not come up even when there is a physical connection. The fix is being applied to all new STRM 5000 II and NEBS appliances from manufacturing. However, in case it was not applied on your unit, follow this procedure:

  1. Download the file STRMupgrade_swap_eth.sh. (Please note that this file was formerly called STRMswap_eth.sh.)
  2. Copy this script to a DOS USB stick (FAT32 formatted). Insert the USB stick with script in the front USB port.
  3. Log in as root.
  4. Press Ctrl-C to get the Unix prompt.
  5. Enter mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt
  6. Enter /mnt/STRMupgrade_swap_eth.sh. The following is a sample of the output that will be displayed at the CLI:
    Found S7012 Motherboard - Product: STRM 5000 NEBS/II

For any other version or platform, swap back your interfaces by performing the instructions found in KB30346 - [STRM] Ethernet interfaces were swapped (2012.2R4 and above).
