Summary:

How Do I Determine if My SRX is using Dual Root Partition

Symptoms:

Determining if system is formatted with dual root partition

Solution:

SRX branch devices (SRX-100, SRX-210, SRX-240, SRX-650) supports dual root partitions beginning with JUNOS 10.0 and above.

There are a couple of ways to check if you are running dual root partition.

First, you can check the console boot up messages.  If you are running dual root partition, you will see the following:

Boot media /dev/da0 has dual root support

You can also verify this from the CLI.  The following output will appear if the system is running as dual root partition:

root> show system snapshot media internal
Information for snapshot on internal (/dev/da0s1a) (backup)
Creation date: Mar 18 10:03:44 2010
JUNOS version on snapshot:
  junos : 10.0R3.1-export
Information for snapshot on internal (/dev/da0s2a) (primary)
Creation date: Mar 25 10:04:42 2010
JUNOS version on snapshot:
  junos : 10.0R3.2-export

For non dual-root systems, the CLI output will look like the following:

root> show system snapshot media internal
Information for snapshot on internal (da0s1)
Creation date: Mar 25 10:04:42 2010
JUNOS version on snapshot:
  junos : 10.0R3.2-export
