STRM rescue boot

Summary:
How to boot STRM in Rescue mode in an attempt to recover data or repair the file system.
Symptoms:
  • The STRM does not boot correctly due to corrupt boot information
  • Need to access the /store partition to recover data or attempt to repair the file system

Solution:
NOTE: This procedure requires the STRM Recovery USB stick that shipped with your unit.

  1. Insert the USB stick and reboot the system
  2. At the prompt type " install rescue "   (Note: typing only "install" reverts the system to factory defaults.
  3. When prompted configure networking if needed.
  4. Choose to skip attempting to mount installations.
  5. Perform maintenance operations.
    • Attempt to access /store by entering the following:
      • mkdir /mnt/store
      • mount /dev/sda8 /mnt/store
    • Run file system checks on the partitions

  6. Type "exit" to reboot the system
