ISIS SNMP Traps support on Junos

0

0

Article ID: KB17950 KB Last Updated: 28 Jun 2018Version: 2.0
Summary:
The article discuss support for SNMP traps for the ISIS Routing  Protocol in Junos.
Symptoms:
ISIS Adjacency Up/Down Does not generate traps with the current Junos implementation.

Junos ISIS Implementation supports following MIB through get operation:
RFC 1195, Use of OSI IS-IS for Routing in TCP/IP and Dual Environments (only the objects isisSystem, isisMANAreaAddr, isisAreaAddr, isisSysProtSupp, isisSummAddr, isisCirc, isisCircLevel, isisPacketCount, isisISAdj, isisISAdjAreaAddr, isisAdjIPAddr, isisISAdjProtSupp, isisRa, and isisIPRA are supported)
However, none of the above SNMP MIB options support Trap generation under Junos.
Solution:
A similar result can be achieved using the event policy option to generate a trap once a monitored event occurs.

To configure a policy that raises a trap on receipt of an event, include the following statements at the [edit event-options policy policy-name] hierarchy level:

[edit event-options policy policy-name]
events [ events ];
then {
raise-trap;
}

A new MIB (jnx-syslog.mib) supports this policy action.

Example Event Policy:

[edit event-options]
policy p1 {
events ui_mgd_terminate;

then {
raise-trap;

event-script bgp.xsl {

arguments {
destination {$ui_mgd_terminate.destination};
code 2;
}
output-filename bgp-out;
destination bsd3;
}
}
}
