[SBR] Maximum Concurrent Connections

Article ID: KB19224 KB Last Updated: 08 Mar 2017Version: 3.0
Enabling Maximum concurrent connections allows you to limit the number of times users can log in to Steel-Belted Radius (SBR) using the same user ID.
  • Can I limit the number of times a user can log in with the same ID?
  • Can I change the limit of concurrent connections?
Go to Users, and then select a user.  At the bottom of the window, is a checkbox labeled "Maximum concurrent connections" (as pictured below).

In the above example, this user can log in twice concurrently with the same username.

Concurrent Connection Limits a maximum number of open connections which can be set for each user entry by checking the Maximum concurrent connections check box and entering a number in the accompanying field. When the user requests access, the user can be authenticated using the given authentication method only if fewer than this number of connections are currently open for this user.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This feature is reliant on accurate accounting start and stop messages from the NAS device. If the NAS is not sending accurate start/stop messages, the maximum concurrent connections will not work correctly.
