  1. Which version of Junos OS should I download?

Refer to KB21476, which has collated information to help customers and Juniper manufacturing select a Junos OS software version that aligns with their deployment needs. The releases listed have performed well for the general population. However, note that due to the uniqueness of our customer network deployments, including areas such as design, traffic patterns/flows, and specific usage of features and functionality, Juniper recommends that all customers should:

  • Read the associated Release Notes to understand how features, functionality, fixes, and any known outstanding issues may apply to their specific network and applications

  • Test and certify the suggested code versions to ensure they will perform as expected in their network. Customers can verify the list of suggested releases here: Junos Software Versions - Suggested Releases to Consider and Evaluate.

  1. How do I check the version of Junos OS that my EX switch is currently running? How do I verify the current Junos OS version?

> show version OR
# run show version

For more information about the command, refer to show version.

  1. Which software package should I download?

Go to https://support.juniper.net/support/downloads. Then look for your EX device model and desired version of software. The MD5 checksum for a specific code can be found on software Downloads page by clicking the checksum link right below the Downloads column. Refer to KB17665 - [Junos] How to check MD5 checksum on a Junos installation package for more details and an example.
