Article ID: KB20410 KB Last Updated: 14 Mar 2019Version: 2.0
Summary:

Users may observe that ISG2000 cluster upgrade from ScreenOS 6.0r8 to 6.1r7 is causing OSPF adjacency to be stuck in "exstart" status.

This article describes what must be done to resolve the issue.

Symptoms:

Scenario:

  • Two ISG2000s are running in Active/Passive mode.

  • Both ISG2000s are running OSPF and have established adjacency with peer devices.

  • After upgrade from ScreenOS 6.0r8 to 6.1r7, OSPF adjacency is stuck in "exstart" status, and then in "init" continuously.

Solution:

During software upgrade of a cluster to a higher ScreenOS version, OSPF adjacencies may fail if NSRP route synchronization is enabled.

If upgrading to ScreenOS 6.1, try the following commands before upgrading:

  1. Run the following command on both devices: unset nsrp rto-mirror route

  2. Upgrade device A from ScreenOS 6.0 to 6.1.

  3. Upgrade device B from ScreenOS 6.0 to 6.1.

  4. Run the following command on both devices: set nsrp rto-mirror route

Or upgrade to the latest version of ScreenOS 6.3.
