EX Switches - Checking for Tail Dropped packets using SNMP OID

The article discusses about support for SNMP COS tail drops packets  for particular interface.
The class-of-service MIB provides support for the JUNOS implementation of class of service that can be used to monitor interface output queue stats per interface and per forwarding class.
The total number of packets of specified forwarding class dropped due to tail dropping at the output on the given interface."

  1. Below mentioned command will give us the snmp index number.
  2. root@EX-LAB> show snmp mib walk ifDescr | grep ge-0/0/0
    ifDescr.206 = ge-0/0/0
  3. Below command will give us the queue number mapped to particular SNMP OID:
  4. root@EX-LAB> show snmp mib walk
    jnxCosFcQueueNr. = 0 = best effort
    jnxCosFcQueueNr. = 7 = Network Control
    jnxCosFcQueueNr. = 1 ==assured-forwarding
    jnxCosFcQueueNr. = 5 === expedited-forwarding
  5. For example if we want to see tail dropped of an interface ge-0/0/0
  6. Root> show snmp mib walk jnxCosIfqTailDropPkts | grep 206
    jnxCosIfqTailDropPkts. = 0
    jnxCosIfqTailDropPkts. = 0
    jnxCosIfqTailDropPkts. = 0
    jnxCosIfqTailDropPkts. = 0
