[STRM] Some logos uploaded for use in reports may become distorted

Article ID: KB20761 KB Last Updated: 13 Apr 2011Version: 1.0
When using the upload utility in STRM to upload a logo for use in reports, the logo may not appear properly in the reports.
The problem is that the STRM upload utility uses libraries that are compatible with Microsoft Paint.
If a user attempts to upload a logo through this utility which would not display properly in MS Paint, then the logo will not display properly in STRM reports.

An example of this is if a logo has transparency layers (alpha channel), MS Paint will not properly open an image of this type.
Thus, the upload utility will also have problems with this type of image.
The culprit here is the upload utility.
If we bypass the upload utility and copy the file directly to the STRM via SCP, then the logo will display properly:
  1. Use WinSCP or equivalent to connect to the STRM appliance.
  2. Transfer the logo to the STRM appliance and place it in /store/reporting/reports/logos/
  3. Disconnect/reconnect to the console and check the logo in a report.
The image will be displayed properly.
