[STRM] How to change a network setting (such as the IP address) in an HA/distributed implementation

Summary:
To change any of the IP addresses (VIP, primary, or secondary) of an HA/distributed configuration, the HA/distributed setup must be broken and then rebuilt. When the HA/distributed setup is broken, the normal procedure to change an IP address by using qchange_netsetup (as per KB11555 - [STRM] How to change IP Address or hostname on STRM) can be applied.
Symptoms:
 Need to change the VIP, primary, or secondary IP address on a device in an HA pair /distributed setup.
Cause:

Solution:
Break the HA setup:

  1. On the console, go to Admin > System.

  2. Select License Management. 

  3. Click the HA cluster/distributed setup entry.

  4. From the High Availability menu, select Remove Host.


Removing Non-Console Managed Hosts (distributed):

  1. On the console, go to Admin > Deployement Editor.

  2. Click the System View tab.

  3. Select the required managed hosts.

  4. Right-click to access the menu and select Remove host. Repeat for each non-Console managed host, until all hosts are deleted.

  5. From the Administrative Console menu, go to Configurations > Deploy Configuration Changes.

  6. Exit from the Administration Console.

  • Change the IP address of the host by running qchange_netsetup on the primary system (refer to KB11555 - [STRM] How to change IP Address or hostname on STRM). Remember that the new IP of the primary then becomes the Virtual IP.

  • For  HA: Reconfigure the HA again by running the wizard; consult the Admin guide, beginning with the Managing High Availability section, for more information.

  • For Distribution: Reconfigure the Distribution setup again by adding the managed hosts in the deployment editor.
