Disabling individual user accounts in STRM 2010

Article ID: KB22317 KB Last Updated: 01 Dec 2011Version: 1.0
This article provides information on how to disable individual user accounts in STRM 2010.
In earlier versions of STRM (2009.1, 2009.2), disabling the user account was an option, while creating or editing a user. In this version that option is missing.

While creating/editing a user in STRM via Admin > Users , the disabled option is missing under the drop down box for Select Role in STRM 2010. In previous versions (2009.1, 2009.2), there used to be three options - Admin, All, and Disabled.  In the 2010 version, there are only two options - Admin and All; Disabled is missing.

If a user has to be disabled in the 2010 version, the following workaround can be used:

  1. Logon to the SSH connection. First backup the users.conf file:

    cp -p /store/configservices/staging/globalconfig/users.conf /store/configservices/staging/globalconfig/users.conf.backup

  2. Change the users.conf file in /store/configservices/staging/globalconfig/ as shown below:

    Example: User - test2, Role - All

    test2: glee/aW9bOYEewkD/

To change test2 to disabled, All is changed to Disabled as shown below:

    test2: glee/aW9bOYEewkD/

  3. Perform a deploy from the WebUI; after the deploy is complete, user test2 will be disabled.
