[EX] Logging into the EX8200VC member switches and FPCs

Summary:

This article provides information about logging in to EX8200VC member switches and FPCs. Users must log on to EX8200VC member switches and line cards for troubleshooting.

Symptoms:

User login is only possible using root access.

Cause:
 
Solution:

Only a root user has rights to log in to the line card RE or the EX8200 member switch: 

login as: admin
admin@10.209.72.45's password:

As a workaround, please log in to the line card RE and create the user.

In Junos OS 12.3 and later versions, once you create the user on XRE, the user will be created on line card RE as well.
