[Archive] Microsoft 2008 Server and newer MS-RPC support in SRX platforms

Article ID: KB22520 KB Last Updated: 27 Feb 2020Version: 3.0
This article describes the issue of Microsoft 2008 Server and newer RPC messages not being fully supported by MS-RPC ALG in Junos for SRX platforms.
  • The EPM message format in Server 2008 is different as compared to older versions.

  • The difference lies in the fact that many fields are 8 byte align, instead of the original 4 bytes (older Microsoft RPC version).
Junos MS-RPC ALG is unable to correctly parse and extract the right information from RPC messages.
This issue is due to the fact that MS-RPC ALG was not able to parse NDR64 messages. However, this issue is now fixed in 11.4R2 and 12.1R1 or later releases.
