Article ID: KB22868 KB Last Updated: 22 May 2012Version: 1.0
Summary:
The article provides a sequence of SNMP traps, which are issued by the chassisd, when a FPC unexpectedly restarts. The sequence of SNMP Traps is:

  • SNMP Trap "Fru Offline"

  • SNMP Trap "Fru Online"

This is useful when implementing event policies.
Symptoms:
To clarify the sequence of SNMP traps, which is issued by the chassisd, when a FPC unexpectedly restarts.
Cause:
The cause of FPC to restart unexpectedly is not addressed here.  Only to document a set of SNMP trap sequences.
Solution:
Here is a sequence of events, when a FPC/DPC/MPC unexpectedly restarts:

  • T - the timestamp when FPC/DPC/MPC restarts

  • T+n sec - approximate time of when an event occurred.

  1. FPC/DPC/MPC restarts T.

  2. chassisd_snmp_trap10 matchs Fru Offline at T+10sec.

  3. chassisd_snmp_trap7 matchs Fru Online at T+ 60sec.
