Summary:
This article provides information on how to verify if GuiSvr has successfully started and DevSvr is connected to it.
Symptoms:
Once the NSM services are started or restarted, which error logs should be checked to verify if:

  • The GuiSvr has started successfully

  • and devSvr is connected to it.
Cause:

Solution:
Run the following command on the NSM CLI (log in as root user):
tail -f /var/netscreen/GuiSvr/errorLog/guiDaemon.0

Ideally, if everything is working fine, the following messages should appear in the log file:
[12/11/2012 19:48:38.802] [Notice] [2187904-gdNetConfig.c:766] GUI daemon starte

ed: 153718824

GuiDaemon started successfully implies that the NSM database is successfully loaded. DC connected implies that DevSvr is connected to GuiSvr.

Note : to verify if all the sub-processes are running, after the NSM process is started or restarted, use the following commands:
service guiSvr status
service devSvr status
service haSvr status

Or
/etc/init.d/guiSvr status
/etc/init.d/devSvr status
/etc/init.d/haSvr status
