Summary:
This article provides information on how to update the Attack Database via NSM on JUNOS devices, which support IDP.
Symptoms:
How to update the Attack Database via NSM on JUNOS devices, which support IDP.
Cause:

Solution:

To update to the latest Attack database, perform the following procedure:

  1. Go to Tools > View / Update NSM Attack Database to update the NSM server with the latest Attack DB:

  2. On the main menu, go to Devices > IDP Detector Engine > Load IDP Detector Engine for JUNOS. This option is used to update the JUNOS devices with the latest available Attack DB and Detector Engine over the NSM server.

  3. To update the Attack Database Version column for the JUNOS devices, which are present under Devices, go to Deep Inspection/IDP > Update Device Attack Database:

When the Attack Database Version column is updated, to verify the same via the SRX CL, refer to KB13359 - How to find the detector and attack DB version on SRX platform.

Note:
  • Unlike JUNOS devices, for ISG/IDP or standalone IDP, updating the  IDP Detector Engine as mentioned in step 2, will also update the Attack Database Version column.

  • At times, JUNOS devices may not display the updated Attack Database version, as illustrated in the following image:

In such a scenario, the manual re-import of the device configuration on NSM is recommended. If the re-import still does not change the Attack Database Version  column, contact Juniper Technical Support.

Note: If internet connectivity is not available on NSM, refer to KB16205 - How to perform offline NSM attack database update for Junos devices.
