Article ID: KB24629 KB Last Updated: 10 Oct 2020Version: 3.0
Summary:
This article provides information on how to download specific files from the WLC device via the WebUI, when TFTP connections are unavailable.
Symptoms:
You will have to download logs, tech support files, core files, and so on, from the WLC device to provide them to JTAC for further analysis.
Solution:
  1. Identify the name of the file to download by using the following command:
    #dir

Make a note of the exact filename, which is displayed after file:. In this example, the apm-trace file is used.

  2. Open a browser on a PC, which has L3 connectivity to the WLC device. Type https://<WLC-ip_address> in the address bar and the following login page is displayed.

Logon with your credentials (by default, the username is admin and the password is the one used for entering the enable mode on the WLC device; if there is no enable mode password configured, leave this field blank).

  3. After logging in, modify the final part of the URL by replacing session-login with download/filename (which is apm-trace in this example):

The file options dialog box is displayed:

  4. Save the file to your computer.

Note: Make sure that you include the file extension for files that have extensions. In the above example, if the dir output had shown the filename as 'apm-trace.txt', then the modified URL should have 'apm-trace.txt' included.
