This article provides information about the recommended mounting height for WLA632 with ANT7360A-OUT.
To achieve good localized coverage, a WLA device needs to be at a certain height. Calculations will be different for different types of antennas.


Based on the antenna patterns and anecdotal pre-tests on the mast, the WLA device must be at the maximum of 2- metres mounted height. If it is used as a point-multipoint meshpoint/bridge, then it has to be at roughly the same height as the other meshpoints/portal. You have to plan for approximately +- 10 deg vertical beamwidth (ANT7360 is 2.4/5GHz 22/15deg vertical bandwidth antenna).

With about -50 to -57 dB path loss at 3m height, both 2.4G and 5G clients should still link up at one meter vertical distance away. At this one metre vertical distance away, the calculated RSSI is about -72dBm with +5dBm transmit power and -20dB antenna gain at 5.8GHz.
