Summary:
This article describes the issue of the Failed to update policy counter of the policy, Policy: can't be modified error message being generated, when an attempt is made to enable the counter in the policy.
Symptoms:
Previously, 125 policies were created with the counter being enabled on them and when an attempt was made to add an additional policy, the counter option was not enabled via the WebUI. The following error message was generated:
nsisg1000-> get sys-cfg | in counter
policy counter number: 125

Failed to update policy counter of the policy, Policy: can't be modified

Cause:

Solution:
Normally, this error message indicates a device limitation:
nsisg1000-> get sys-cfg | in counter
policy counter number: 125
