[ScreenOS] Deep Inspection (DI) database fails to update due to memory leakage in DI update process

Summary:

This article describes the issue of DI database update failure due to memory leakage in the DI update process.

 

Symptoms:
  • The DI update fails with the following message being generated in get event:

    Date              Time    Module     Level Type      Description
    2008-12-10 13:15:48 system notif 00767 Cannot switch to attack database version 1324.
    2008-12-10 13:15:48 system crit 00081 Cannot allocate 214357152 bytes of memory.
    
  • When this failure occurs, the following console output should be obtained:

    Switching attack database...sc_switch_db_iter_policy:sc_vector_copy of atkgrp_old->index(177373520) failed
    Failed to switch to new database.
    

 

Solution:

This is a software bug. The issue has been resolved in ScreenOS 5.4.0r13, 6.1.0r6, , 6.2.0r3, and 6.3.0r1.
